Mara “Sunny” brings a story that cuts through inspiration clichés and speaks directly the lived truth. Once an internationally awarded top performer, travelling the world and living what many would call a dream life, her world collapsed completely—career, security, relationships, even a place to sleep. After losing her parents weeks apart, she faced the words no one is prepared to hear: “We can’t do anything. It’s a rare disease. No treatments”
Shaped by 14 years living in Germany and now based in Playa del Carmen, Mara rebuilt her life from the ground up through healing, courage, and radical honesty. She shares the unspoken steps behind choosing life —through loss, fear, love, laughter, and deep resilience so anyone can choose and enjoy life, no matter the challenges.

Mara’s story is not about positive thinking — it’s about certainty forged in crisis. When life removed every external structure, she was forced to confront one question: does my life still matter? Through loss, illness, and complete collapse, Mara rebuilt from the inside out. Her talk speaks to real growth — the kind that comes when illusions fall away and truth becomes non-negotiable. This is a reminder that certainty is not found in comfort, but in choosing life, again and again, without denial or false hope.

Well... I looked "high" outside and a mess inside.

To look honestly in my heart, at all these behaviours, emotions and "thoughts" I was taking them as "the truth", and the people in my life were my blessings.
And the gratitude for a sunrise, for the clouds, the moon, a smile from my nephew, a simple hug... the appreciation for the small things brought me here today.
